The Nissan NP200
The Nissan NP200 picks up where the much-loved Nissan 1400 bakkie left off. Certainly a hard act to follow, but with only short time in production, the NP200 is doing admirably well at proving its worth as a small Nissan bakkie that still means big business.
More space, more power, more comfort
Probably the most notable improvement from its predecessor is the NP200’s increase in load capacity from 500kg to a mighty 800kg. And with a loadbox 1.8m long, 1.37m wide and 64cm high, the Nissan NP200 offers more space than any other vehicle in its class. Even the tailgate impresses when it takes up to 300kg during loading and there is even 300l of luggage space behind the seats. And whatever you’re carrying you can be sure the NP200’s fuel-efficient 1.6 litre petrol or 1.5dCi engine will get you where you need to be comfortably.
Nissan have not forgotten that this type of vehicle has many uses – from day-to-day work vehicle to a leisure bakkie - that means it carries pets and surfboards just as often as building supplies or delivery cargo. The Nissan NP200 copes with all uses in its stride, boasting the biggest interior cabin space in its class with extensive storage capacity. The trim is smart and high quality too, complemented by good instrumentation and equipment like power steering, audio system, central locking and air-conditioner.
Up-to-date safety features
The Nissan NP200 is built with plenty of safety features like crumple zones and an engine compartment designed to stack up in frontal impact collisions. It offers 3-point seatbelts while impact-absorbent materials are fitted in the dashboard and doors to provide hip and lower limb protection. Certain models also come with both ABS and EBD braking systems and driver airbags (passenger airbags are standard on SE models). The NP200 also comes standard with Nissan’s Microdot Anti-theft technology, meaning you can enjoy greater peace of mind that your NP200 is safer, whenever you leave it.
